climate aaaMeeting the challenge of climate change is becoming a priority for young people, policy makers, businesses and individuals. This requires better predictions of regional climate change, improved understanding of the impacts of climate change on human and natural systems, and an assessment of the risks associated with high magnitudes and rates of climate change.

The impact of climate change will vary from country to country, depending on geography – which in turn determines sectoral impacts and the consequences for economic and social development. Poor countries and people will face the greatest difficulties.

Given their geographic location, many Commonwealth member states are already experiencing the impacts of climate change, through rising sea-levels and increased intensity and occurrence of tropical storms.

youth climateIn this scenario it has become imperative to engage the next generation of decision makers, the youth – who will feel the brunt of the negative impacts of climate change. Engaging them in actions to address climate change is a critical element in any nation’s strategy, and a significant contributor to the process of halting climate change.

Youth are a key segment of society and have proven to be an important group on actions to address environmental issues in the past. Youth and children are an important source of creativity, enthusiasm and drive for any actions to address climate change.
